My Newborn Photography sessions are designed for those parents that want to keep the costs down, have the photos taken in the comfort of their own home without the disruption but still have those fantastic, special photos.
How we do things differently?
The photoshoots are done a bit differently to what you may expect or have experienced in the past. I specialise in digital backdrop new born photography. The basic principle behind that is instead of physically purchasing the props and setting everything up on site, everything apart from a few key pieces are digital and the magic happens when it comes to editing.
I do this for a couple of reasons, first is price. The business itself was built upon the idea that photography doesn’t need to be expensive for parents and families. When you look at a photo and factor in the price of the backdrop, props such as baskets, teddies, flowers. Ignoring the time to transport and set up those costs or studio space, these are naturally factored into the sale price and as a result often more times than not photography packages can be in the region on £200 plus.
Is this a good fit for me?
The above gives a rough idea of why certain photography can be expensive and every business has costs to factor in. There is a place in the market for both options and pros and cons to consider for each. Many do like the experience of going to a studio but are limited to the photo options dependant on what props and backgrounds the photographer has available, prices can be higher as a result or the idea of travelling to the studio with a new born puts you off.
Using digital backdrops enables me to offer a much wider catalogue of image possibilities to meet anyone's tastes while keeping the overall costs down. Not to mention new born safety. As an example please see the photos at the top of the page, there would be no way I would have risked placing a new born in the arms of a teddy bear. While it may not be to everyone’s tastes, without this method those types of photos would have been impossible to create.
The other benefits are time and space, doing new born shoots in this way means that I can work within any space. New born shoots are best done in an environment the baby is comfortable and relaxed, what better place than at home vs travelling to a studio or turning your living room upside down to try and fit the backdrop, lighting and props in. Overall it means I can provide a shorter, less intrusive shoot for baby and yourself.
While the way I carry out the photoshoots is different and requires a little imagination, I have years of experience in photography, lighting and image editing and I would never offer a service unless I was confident you would not be able to tell the difference in the end result vs if the physical props were being used.
